Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide that mimics the natural hormone α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Designed as a broad-spectrum melanocortin receptor agonist, it influences pigmentation, sexual function, and appetite regulation. Although studied for tanning and erectile dysfunction, it has never been approved for human use due to safety concerns.
